PC won't POST after enabling EXPO/XMP memory profile (AM5)
The problem
After turning on the EXPO (or XMP) memory profile in BIOS for full RAM speed, the machine won't POST -- black screen, no display, sometimes a memory-training reboot loop -- and you can't get back into BIOS to undo it.

The way most sites tell you — and why it fails

Advice often jumps to 'your RAM is faulty' or 'reflash the BIOS', which is overkill for what is just a bad memory profile the board can't train.
Assume the RAM kit is dead and RMA it
Reflash / downgrade the BIOS blindly
Keep power-cycling hoping it trains eventually Why it fails: The RAM is usually fine; EXPO simply applied timings the board couldn't stabilise, and the failed profile is stored in CMOS so every boot retries the same bad settings. Replacing parts or reflashing doesn't clear that stored profile.
The correct way — we tested this
✓ Do this instead
Clear CMOS to wipe the stored bad profile, boot at safe default RAM speed, then re-enable EXPO only if the board trains it.
Power off and switch off the PSU.
Use the motherboard's Clear CMOS button/jumper (or remove the coin battery for ~1 min).
Power back on -- it will POST at default (slower) RAM speed.
Optional: re-enter BIOS and try EXPO again; if it fails to POST, leave it off or set memory speed manually a step lower.
Seat both DIMMs in the board's recommended slots (commonly A2 + B2 for two sticks). Why this works
EXPO/XMP is an overclock; if the CPU's memory controller can't train those exact timings, the system can't POST, and the attempted profile persists in CMOS so it keeps failing. Clearing CMOS resets to JEDEC-safe defaults that always boot, giving you control back. Using the correct two-DIMM slots (A2/B2) gives the best chance the profile trains on a retry.
